"BACK AT DEADHOOK"
Back at Deadhook, Cass and Jerome sit at the bar. They've closed early for the day, with the analog clock above the bar reading a quarter past six. The two chat while a couple of glasses keep them company. An empty third waits for its bobcat associate.
"Never seen an otter run so fast in my life." Cass says with a smirk.
Jerome returns his glass to the table after having a taste. "You scared me too!" He begins to mimic the lizard. "*If you stop or look back, you're dead. Now start running!*"
"Scaring gets the job done." Cass states.
The raccoon rests his chin upon his hand. "You'd know a lot about that, Ms. Frills." He jokes.
Cass gives him a sideways glance. "Hmph." Along with that, the front door swings open, and the bobcat enters. He takes the chair next to Cass, who moves the empty glass in front of him. The lizard offers him the bottle of Bluegrass Sour whiskey. The pill bottle in his jacket pocket enters his mind.
"Nah, probably shouldn't." The bobcat says.
Cass moves the denied glass to the side. "Hmm. More for us." She says as she tops off Jerome's glass and her own.
Jerome leans over the bar, looking past the pouring lizard. "You alright, Skinner? You look a little pale."
"What? Oh." The bobcat says. "It was a hot day today." He explains. The raccoon leans back into his seat. "You two gonna drink that much before the job?"
"Wouldn't be the first job." Cass laughs and sips her drink. "We'll go to bed early."
"As long as you're all there for tomorrow morning." Skinner says, retrieving a folded map from his jacket. He lays it open upon the bar.
Cass leans over the map. "Oooh, fancy." She comments.
"Skinner always works like this." Jerome says.
The bobcat rolls his eyes as he continues. "First off - try not to plug either of the guys in the van. Same reason why I didn't kill that suit earlier. If we kill innocent people over this, the heat will come down harder."
The other two look at each other and back to him before nodding.
Skinner extends a finger and places it on a highway intersection exiting Palm Springs. "This intersection is right down the street from their depot. No reason why they shouldn't exit the city this way. As the van turns in..."
